AES - acrylonitrile-styrene-acrylate-nitrile | ||||||||
AES is a terpolymer obtained by grafting styrene-acrylonitrile copolymer to ethylene propylene or ethylene-propylene-diene rubber monomer. Similar to ABS resin but with better weather resistance. AES resin (or AEPDS) is an acrylonitrile (ethylene-propylene-diene) -styrene, acrylate rubber, EPDM, improves the impact resistance, replacing the polybutadiene of ABS. The acrylic polymer phase of this confers an intrinsic resistance to UV rays (such as PMMA), combined with good toughness in terms of typical ABS impact strength. It offers exceptional durability in outdoor environments without paint. The advanced compound of mixtures and resin ASA offer an excellent esthetics, variety of colors, good chemical resistance and excellent thermo-resistance and capacity of treatment. It can be incorporated into alloys, combinations and mixtures to benefit from the properties of the component resins. | ||||||||

Physical and mechanical properties | ||||||||
AES thermoplastic has excellent mechanical characteristics, aesthetics and brightness but, most importantly, weather resistance and is therefore suitable in all outdoor applications subjected to the action of UV as opposed to hard ABS and scratch resistant, good sound proof thanks to high mechanical damping. Being an amorphous polymer, it has a low rate of shrinkage. Post-contraction is negligible in most applications, representing approximately 1/10 of the total contraction. | ||||||||
Thermal properties | ||||||||
Supports short-term heating with a load of up to 90 - 98 ° C. The maximum long-term operating temperature: 50 - 80 ° C. | ||||||||
Electrical properties | ||||||||
Being a slightly polar material, with a high TG and low water absorption, the electrical properties are practically not affected by the variation of temperature, frequency (up to 106 Hz) and humidity, within normal working intervals. | ||||||||

Chemical resistance | ||||||||
Excellent weather resistance and gloss retention with exceptional outdoor durability. It not only maintains the aesthetic properties but also the mechanical ones in conditions of prolonged exposure to sunlight, humidity and heat. Processability | ||||||||
AES pellets can be easily molded by means of injection, extrusion or molding or using the rotation system. Molded to achieve a maximum aesthetic effect with an excellent and long-lasting shine. AES granules generates toxic fumes when printed so it is very important to inject in a place with good ventilation. | ||||||||
Polymerization | ||||||||
AES, a commercial elastomer obtained by radical copolymerization of styrene and acrylonitrile in the presence of ethylene-propylene-diene terpolymer (EPDM).

Applications | ||||||||
With this plastic material valuable parts are made, gloss and scratch resistant. Body parts used outdoors. Rear view mirror, body of the car, output connections for air conditioners, road signs. By adding opacifiers, automotive sector surfaces opaque can be obtained. It is used for radiator mirrors and grilles, spoiler, bicycle parts and the motocilcleta reach. Electrical and electronic, electrical panels, connectors, terminal blocks, inrerruttori housings for cooking and vacuum equipment, control panels and appliance construction, sanitary fittings, garden furniture, road lights, grigle external ventilation badges, headlights.
