PC / PBT Polycarbonate / Polybutylene terephthalate - alloy
This mechanical mixture, also called alloy, alloy or blend, is distinguished from the others by resisting impact at low temperatures and withstanding the attack of some chemical agents such as gasoline. The PC imparts impact resistance and processability, while the PBT provides chemical resistance and tensile breakage, good resistance to chemicals, high impact resistance even at low temperatures, thermo-resistance and excellent aesthetic and flow characteristics. PC / PBT alloys offer exceptional performance in applications that are exposed to hostile conditions, or that require a high degree of hardness.

Applications PC/PBT | ||||||||
Housings for tools, such as drills, connectors and electrical type applications. The chemical resistance, in addition to the low absorption of moisture are appreciable qualities for motorcyclist helmets and some water vehicles. PC / PBT is effective where impact and chemical resistance is necessary, and where low temperature impact is necessary, requiring a ductile failure mode (breaks that do not break). Applications such as bumpers and body moldings on automobiles as well as lawn and garden equipment, where the hardness and resistance to stress when cracking of fuels and lubricants is required are good applications for PC / PBT. Parts made with PC / PBT are usually thick sections, as the material does not flow well enough for the thin wall design. The contraction varies depending on the relative content of the PBT, and therefore the tool may be unique for this matter, that is, it is not easy to replace it with other polymers.
