Oxo-degradable - Thermoplastic polymers, elastomers and additives

With the addition of our oxo-degradable polyolefins, which have been shown to be produced in accordance with the requirements of ASTM D6954-04, the standard provides for three levels of testing:

• 1-) Molecular weight reduction (Mw) of less than 5000 so it is small enough to pass through the cell membranes of bacteria, through molecular oxidation, due to oxidative degradation through the action of UV rays of heat and humidity.

• 2-) Biodegradation of oxo-degradable containing PE, in the simulated composting environment for ASTM 5338 in an aerobic or anaerobic system, which results in the conversion of oxidized polymer to carbon dioxide, biomass and humus-rich water.

• 3-) The level of toxicity of the second part as prescribed by the OECD 207 and 208 after the stage of biodegradation, and show that the biomass, humus products can coexist with animals and plants, plants and animals without toxic effects.

The reference standard for oxo-degradable products is currently ASTM D6954-04.
