Transparent polymers | ||
The plastics can be divided into amorphous and crystalline and against what would seem to indicate its name, the crystalline ones are not the transparent ones. The glass itself is an amorphous material. The transparency of plastics is a characteristic that is given by the way they are structured at the molecular level. In contrast, the crystals are grouped at a molecular level in a crystalline structure. These crystals refract the light individually, so you do not get a transparency of the material, which is simply translucent. |
