Rain boots, or also called rubber boots or waterproof boots, or katiuskas are a type of waterproof and cordless boots that protect the wearer from water and mud. They are used mainly as part of the work clothing in certain activities that require protection in adverse conditions. Based on the type of use they can be made in SBS, SESB, EVA or PVC

The low cost and excellent performance of poly (vinyl chloride) make it a very attractive and suitable plastic. It can have a matt or glossy appearance, good resistance to low scratches, slightly heavier than the specific weight of PVC. However, PVC suffers from poor thermal and light stability. However, PVC suffers from poor thermal and light stability. Under UV irradiation, and in the presence of oxygen and moisture, PVC undergoes a very rapid process of dehydrochlorination and peroxidation with the formation of polyenes.

The SBS polymer-based thermoplastic compounds are modified, depending on the application, in monocolor, bicolor or tricolor boots with resistance to ultraviolet rays and solvents used in the paint. The appearance is of great importance in the boots so our SBS is modified, to give the appearance bright, matte or aged. Non-slip material, quite flexible is torn with the attack of solvents such as acetone and ethyl acetate. They are easy materials to process, as well as PVC, and they behave like a vulcanized SBR at room temperature. The advantage of producing a thermoplastic elastomer is exploited in the injection of complex parts such as boots by eliminating the curing times of the elastomers that need vulcanization.
